Sunday, January 31st 2010 - Sacramento Radisson Hotel, 500 Leisure Lane, Sacramento, CA OPA Productions in association with The Mnimi Foundation for veterans Tickets and info: 1-877-OPA-SHOW OR 916-765-4372 www.mnimi.org Doors open at 7:00PM Show starts at 8:00PM http://www.radissonsac.com/ ![]() Crete1941.com and The Mnimi Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, are proud to bring Greek vocal superstar Yiannis Ploutarhos to Sacramento for a one-night-only concert. His performance will include hits from his triple platinum selling albums as well as the latest songs from his 2009-2010 North American Tour. Proceeds will support The Mnimi Foundation's World War II and Korean War veterans memorial projects. Mnimi means 'remembrance,' and likewise it is remembrance that gives the Mnimi Foundation its meaning and purpose. The battles of Achilles and Alexander are known throughout the world. Less well known are the battles of the heroic Greek men, women, and children who fought their Nazi occupiers in World War II. Fewer still know of the company of Greek heroes of the Korean War who, like the legendary Spartans of Thermopylae, fought an enemy 30 times their number and, despite such grim odds, brought about that enemy's defeat. According to official U.S. military records, "Company P of the Greek Battalion, refusing to withdraw, closed in and met the attackers in a furious hand to hand struggle in which many of the enemy were driven off. The aggressors regrouped, quickly attacked a second time, and again gained the friendly trenches. Immediately, the Greek Forces launched a series of counterattacks. After two hours of close-in fighting, the aggressors were again routed and the friendly positions restored." For more information about the foundation please visit MNIMI.ORG and Crete1941.com We appreciate your support and connot wait for the arrival of Yiannis Ploutarhos in Sacramento! **For tickets and more info: 916-973-1120 Christos@archangelfilms.com OR1-877-OPA-SHOW The Mnimi Foundation website has over 80,000 registered users from over 76 countries. Visitors are able to freely access material from our documentary film projects, including an archive of thousands of photographs and documents. (The 11th Day archive is the largest online archive of World War II photos and documents in the world.) Visitors are also able to share their own family stories via an online forum section and guestbook section. Below is a small sample of the hundreds of comments we have received: Name: George Demetrios Message: I am the proud son of Athena Frydas Demetrios, who was a Nursing Instructor in Greece during the occupation in WW2. She would tell me many stories of how she would break curfew to sneak around to check on her students to make sure they were ok. She then also worked for the US Navy Hospital in Athens. I have always been extraordinarily proud to be Greek and to know all the things that we as Greeks have given to the world. I am even more proud now as I have never really heard about this story in detail. I have just received this email from another Greek friend of mine and cannot wait to see this Documentary. I say to the Brothers Epperson, Bravo Sas. Keep up the Great Work in bringing The Greek History and Culture to the rest of the World. Name: Aristotelis Dakoglou Message: Friends of mine always knew how proud I am to be greek, but after veiwing the 11th day they understand what exactly that means. Thank you Name: leandro Message: I live in Argentina,i'm a history teacher and a real fanatic of the battle of crete. I think your site is wonderful, very complete and very carefully planned. Its a real pleasure to those who know the history of the Mercury operation. Thank you for your work. |
